Arion MTE-1 Tubulator Distortion Pedal

I only paid $10 for the Arion Tubulator, so it’s tough to say anything bad about it. But here’s my honest review of this pedal.

People were talking about the incredible tone this pedal provided, and I was intrigued. After buying one for myself, the little stompbox lived up to the hype. The tone is great. It’s not what you would expect from a $100 Tubescreamer, but it’s still awesome. And for a tenth of the price, you’ve got yourself a real deal. There are a wide range of sounds available with just a little tweaking, and you’re sure to find at least one that fits your fancy.

Here’s the downfall – this thing is built as cheap as they come. Plastic casing, plastic knobs, cheap battery cover. But what do you expect for ten bucks? If you plan on babying your pedal (maybe in the studio) then this shouldn’t stop you from buying one. But if you need it for live use, buy a backup or two. They’re cheap enough to justify owning a couple. Bottom line: great tone, cheap exterior, rock bottom price.
